Indonesia Strengthens Its Partnership and Cooperation with US-ABC In Effort to Advance Tourism
The Ministry of Tourism in Indonesia has strengthened its collaboration with the United States-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism in the nation.
Indonesia is emphasising the importance of this partnership in order to achieve shared goals and mutual benefits. The country’s commitment to sustainable tourism is aligned with the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Key initiatives that will be the focus of this cooperation with US-ABC include a carbon footprint calculator, decarbonization roadmaps, and a blue-green circular economy strategy. Sustainable tourism certification, policies, and awareness campaigns will also be part of these efforts.
Indonesia’s Strategy for Sustainable Tourism Growth
Indonesia’s government aims to develop tourism that not only boosts economic and social benefits but also safeguards the environment and cultural heritage. Strategies such as the “Proud to Travel in Indonesia” campaign, modernised tourism marketing, and affordable airline tickets are also in the works and will be implemented to attract more travellers.
Indonesia projects its tourism industry will contribute 5% to the national GDP and generate $32 billion in foreign exchange by 2029. Thus, it is also focusing on enhancing workforce quality in the tourism sector.
